I think I need to rebrand my website. Not the visuals, they look well, but the wording. Flash Fiction gives the impression of storytelling, which is exactly what it started out as, but now I seem to have slipped away from the stories, and instead, I seem to be putting my all into poetry. Short poetry. Just a few short lines, just enough to say it all.

I think I’ll need something catchy written on the front page, but what I ask myself? Something that says poetry, or poet or poems I think.

I shall ponder for a while.

I’ve started writing poems about serial killers. I’ve written three so far, but they’re not quite ready for public viewing, not yet.

I’ll sleep on them tonight, I think, and then do some editing, and I might upload one or two tomorrow.

A quick word to the wise: with this subject, less is more.

I liked how my website looked, but there was definitely room for improvement, so I went online looking for something clean, something pushing toward minimalism but also suited to my writing style. I tend to be more of a writer of dark stuff, mystery, death and the like, but didn’t want a matching dark grey or black website, so I’ve gone with this. A beautiful minimalist blog with just a hint of pale green and plenty of light.

I hope you all like it.

Darcy is at over 1100 words, my longest piece to date, and I banged It out in approximately 3 hours, and that 3 hours was at the end of a shift in the factory. Not only is Darcy my longest piece, but it is also my favourite as well.
It seems that the more I write, the easier it gets. I wonder if this is so with all writers…
Set over two days, the story of Darcy is predominantly about a wedding, but as with all my writing, there’s a darkness to it.

And for those not in the know, a clue to the darkness is in the title, Darcy, which is a Gaelic word meaning dark.

Thank you for reading.

I sat down last night to make my first blog post here at Flash Fiction. I typed in all that I wished to say and filled out all the necessary bits and pieces like keywords or categories etc, and then I was happy and proudly pushed the publish button.

Keen to see what it all looked like, I was dismayed to find nothing there. The category was okay, and so were the keywords, but the content was missing.

Cursing my stupidity, I rewrote the blog post and hit publish. I was a bit sceptical after the first attempt, but I was quietly confident. However, there was no content.

I wasn’t going to give up, so I fought for the rights of my content, I asked Google what could possibly be wrong, but even the great search engine itself had no answers, or at least none that I hadn’t already tried.

I was at a loss and sat scratching my head, when a thought popped up in my mind.

Maybe it’s Android

Quickly I grabbed my iPhone, the one that should be going back to the leasing agent any day, turned it on and logged in to the website. I pressed buttons and opened up a new post.

With beads of sweat running down my eyes, I typed a few random letters into the content box, nervously I pushed publish and flicked over to the live view, and there, in all its glory, was a blog post complete with content.

I was elated and over the moon with this one small victory. Quickly I wrote my first post, hit publish, and then went to bed, confident in what I had achieved.

And as you dear reader can see, everything is as it should be.

Posts are not only visible to the dear reader, but they are complete, they are live, and now I am left with only one question,

“ what do I do with the iPhone now?”

I suppose I’ll have to extend the lease. An Android that can’t write blog posts, is useless to a writer.

I came across flash fiction by accident. I was under the impression that I had successfully written my first short story, but sadly, a quick search on Google revealed that I was a few words short.

To be a real short story, my work needed a minimum of 1500 words, and mine was just a lowly 900 words.

But my dismay was not permanent, for I had unwittingly created a work of Flash Fiction, which is a work of about 500 to 1000 words.
I was elated, I had found my new niche, and my comfort zone had a name and a cool name it is.

This blog is for me to publish, and for you dear reader, to enjoy my writing, my works of fiction, and flash fiction.
